2.4 and 5.0 WiFi combined...want to separate again

I installed xFI pods which then required the Gateway to remove the different signals.  The Pods didn't work for us (so we returned them) and we want to get the choice of 2.4 or 5.0 back. The gateway will often have our devices connect at 2.4 rather than 5.0 for no good reason and our speed suffers substantially.  How do we do this?  Do I need to do some form of reset to the Gateway?

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 bands and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

I think what he is implying, is that you can get twice the speed on 5 with 2 bars, than 2.4 with 5 bars.

Since the strongest signal wins, you get 2.4

5 doesn't have nearly the same distance...

I see the same results
