"Connect to in-home WiFi to watch" - Why WiFi only and not Ethernet?

When I connect to my home network via ethernet port in the router, I get the "Connect to in-home WiFi to watch" error. When I do connect via WiFi, it does work. It's the same router, whether I'm connecting via ehternet or WiFi, so why does Stream only work over WiFi?

Sounds like a Windows setting; My Win10 always connect with ethernet.

What does Network Status show?

previous issues with this symptom were caused by a VPN being in use on the PC or the DNS settings on the computer being set to non-Comcast DNS servers. Does the same computer work on wifi but not on ethernet? is there a hosts file?
