So Comcast just straight up lied to me. I had one analyst (in a chat no less) tell me that the issue is one between Roku and HBO and has nothing to do with Comcast at all. What a crock. I am seriously considering leaving Comcast if they can't get this together and support Roku. Though they were helpful by telling me that I could use a variety of other devices if I really wanted to see HBO Go.
Yes, Comcast lied to me as well. Retentions said it was a "Roku issue". Just like last year, it was a "Netflix" issue. I learned my lesson. Performance Starter Internet only for me. When HBO offers their cable free streaming option in a few months, I will take it. But, not through Comcast. Comcast needs to be split into two companies: Internet and Content. I can't wait for the day when Internet will be considered a public utility.
Any updates on the changes to the no Roku policy for HBO GO, Showtime Anytime and the other programs now available for anywhere (exoept Roku!)?
This process is available via the other services in my area. I am paying for HBO & Showtime - I should have the access.
Anyone else notice they upped the cost of their rental modems, routers & DVR's? In my area they raised it by two dollars on each... They are bracing for their TV subscriptions to drop & off setting it with who has a DVR & any other rental equipment..
I noticed. I also found out FXM is only available by purchasing a "Sports and Entertainment" package I hadn't heard of before (that only took 4 phone calls and 5 different techs to find out) and if I want battery backup on the new modem they rent to me, I have to buy the battery. That last part was the tipping point.
My 2 year contract ends in May. I'll be re-evaluating my options. I'm starting to lean towards they had better offer me another great package for me not to return to my previous phone, Internet and TV providers. The cost won't be that much different and I already own the modem and DVRs and the phone service would be up to $50 a month less than what I pay Comcast for extra lines..
As an HBO subscriber, I would like to be able to watch HBO shows through my ROKU device. This option is not available through Comcast/Xfinity. Are there any plans in the future to add this function?
It's simple.. you wouldn't need to pay every month for an extra cable box. Buy your Roku (1 time purchase) and your set. Not sure why comcast thinks this supports the "cut the wire movement" when you would still need their subscription to access it. If Fios, TWC and soooooo many others offer it with Roku, the only answer for Comcast would be GREED. Unfortunately, it looks like Comcast is giving us another reason to consider Fios.

Roku likely put a number on the table that Comcast kept rejecting. Now that HBO Go is going a la carte, Comcast will take what they can get.
We have been an Internet only subscriber for years. First through Adelphia, then Comcast. Our reception for broadcast TV via our roof antenna is excellent and we use a Channelmaster Plus DVR, Streaming Netflix, NetFlix DVDs, and Amazon Prime. We never subscribed to TV though a cable company and our download speed is adequate for steaming video. (Performance Starter). Our over the air channels are perfect in high definition.
We became aware of the special that Comcast Offers called Internet Plus which included basic OTA channels, HBO and increased Internet speed that costs little more than what we are already paying, with an increase in cost after 12 months. We subscribed to Internet Plus and planned to put Comcast's low definition descrambler box in the closet since we wouldn't need it. We really wanted to access HBO on our Roku. Imagine our surprise when we found out that Comcast Xfinity does not support HBO Go on our Roku!
There are quite a few ISPs that will work with HBOgo on the Roku. We cancelled Internet Plus and went back to Performance Starter. We will purchase Internet only HBO when it becomes available. I guess, what is also grinding my grits, is that Comcast (and Broadcasters) require us to pay broadcast fees for something we will never watch over Comcast since we receive free over the air in all its stunning glory.
As an aside to this, the descrambler box arrived today and it looks like an oversized dinosaur VHS player from the 1990's. The Roku, in comparison is small and elegant. I am going to the Comcast store to return it, and get a receipt since I have trust issues with Comcast.
ATT Uverse is available and Google is building fiber; so we do have other options.

We'll see about visiting this notion of Internet Plus again after HBO rolls out their direct to the consumer product. Seriously, I detest talking to your poorly trained customer service reps; I would rather pay more directly to HBO than have to deal with your company again, and I resent paying broadcast fees. If I stay with Performance Starter, I hope I will never have to talk to your reps again.
The same scenario played out with trying to get Comcast to authenticate HBOGO on Samsung - long wait with many vexing messages. So, I figured ROKU/HBOGO would be the same deal. Glad I waited it out. Overall I think Comcast (including reps) is pretty good but with room for improvement. Thanks, Comcast.
Thank you, Comcast! Better late than never. I just loaded my Roku with both Showtime Anytime and HBOgo. I'm happy with your X1 service and now very happy to ... finally ... have HBOgo.
I just received an email from Roku, saying they were pleased to annouce that Comcast xfinrity now supoprts HBO GO and Showtime Anytime on Roku!! FINALLY!
I read somewhere that ROKU can stream the HBO channel. I have the HBO Channel as part of my Comcast Xfinity package and would like to know if it is possible to set up my ROKU player to view these programs or is there another version of HBO that I would have to subscribe to and pay additional charges? If it is possible to view through the service I now have - will someone tell me how to go about setting it up or where to find the information to tie in Comcast Xfinity with ROKU? Thank You.
