How to access Xfinity Live TV away from home

We are staying at a friend's cabin in South Lake Tahoe, and unfortunately he stopped his cable TV servive a year ago, and OTA antennas don't work here. The TV is a Smart TV but unfortunately an older one, so no screen mirroring the Xfinity app from a smart phone, and keep getting authorization errors using the iPad app, which we CAN mirror to my friend's Apple TV :-(. Is the Roku our only option, and is it capable of of streaming all our channels from our home's Xfinity live TV to this remote TV?

Thanks, you just saved me $40! Running into errors on my phone's Stream app that I'm not able to access some basic network channels because they're not allowed in this market (message says "Unfortunately, we can’t play this video within this market.")...what a disappointment :-(. It looks like many of the local programs we watch at home on Live TV, like our local San Francisco news programs, are only available AT home?? No portability of the TV we pay for? If so, no point in buying an HDMI cable to connect our computer, since all the local programming we want to watch is not accessable, bacause many of the shows I pull up on the computer say I have to be connected to my Home Network! Didn't Xfinity used to advertise that you could take your TV with you anywhere? Not into watching TV on my tiny screen at home, so Live Stream seems pointless. Looks like Netflix will be our Content Provider for the rest of vacation, outside of the few channels that have their own stand-alone Streaming apps.

Really your only option would be using a laptop/pc with hdmi out to the tv. Roku only works in YOUR home not someone elses

Can I take my Partner Device to my friend's house, hotel or vacation home and access the Xfinity Stream app?
No. The Xfinity Stream app will only work if the device is connected to your Xfinity Internet in-home network through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. If you'd like to access your favorite content when you're not connected to your Xfinity in-home network, you can use the Xfinity Stream portal online or the Xfinity Stream app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer to watch your recordings and available content over the Internet.

Roku’s are meant to be an in home replacement for cable boxes. You’ll be able to watch on an iPad but it won’t let you hook it up to a tv.

Thanks, that seems to be the bottom line - no portability of my Comcast subscription to another TV Smiley Sad

There is portability but as stated above the options are limited

But what about the location issue?  Many stations will not allow me to use my laptop or iPad from the Xfinity Stream app because it will say there is a location issue and that I need to connect to my home network.  I would like to access ALL of my content when I am visiting my sons in Seattle or Portland.  How do I do that?

the TVgo channels in your menu are the available live streaming channels.

If you set everything you want to watch to record - and only save one or a few shows of each thing to avoid running out of space, you can watch as soon as recording stops.   Not great for sports, so-so for news, but who watches anything else live these days anyway.
