before I buy a Roku, will it work with my service?
I want to use the Roku on my second tv. Trying to figure out whether it will work with my plan. I don't know if you need to have a certain speed or channel level or what. I have limited basic with cloud dvr lite. (what is lite anyway??)

Roku has nothing to do with your TV service, other than maybe some network channel apps allowing access if your TV provider has the proper agreement with them. Of course, you will need Internet access...
It sounds like you have Comcast? DVR Lite is just their basic DVR service with only 10 or so hours allowed. Since you only have Limited Basic, the only cable network apps that would give full access are for ABC, NBC and Fox. CW is free to everyone. CBS only allows limited access unless you sign up for CBS All Access ($7-10/month). Some others like MeTV, Comet and similar offer live streaming for all.

i have amazon fire stick, amazon fire TV, apple tv (old 2nd gen), of course comcast won't have agreements with them so i had to purchase a Roku to see if it would work or not.
did not like the comcast app overall - very buggy and poor design - (have to click 'live tv' to get the grid).......also when you type in the channel the grid doesn't auto scroll for some insane reason.
maybe its fixed but i returned my roku......still trying to figure out how to dump comcast due to rising bills....(i keep it because my wife likes the convenience for now)

roku will work with your service. consider one of the voice control roku's for future improvements. if you have at least one set top box installed in your home then you can have up to five streaming devices 'running' at the same time.

no on cruise. you can download up to 10 recordings and many of the on-demand for viewing without using internet - using a smart phone/tablet.
