Xfinity Stream not working on Wifi
Why is the Xfinity Stream service not working on a Roku 3910 Stick when I have it connected to a private Wifi (that is on Xfinity Internet service) and not xfinitywifi service?
The wifi that I am using is a private Wifi setup on my Sonicwall using Xfinity Internet.
So I am using Xfinity internet just not using their Hotspot. No where on their site do they say that you have to use the Xfinitywifi Hotspot.
Trying to get rid of the digital adaptors that I am paying Xfinity for every month and all other Roku services work, such as Netflix and Prime Video, but could not get the Xfinity Stream Beta to work. It told me that I had to use Xfinity wifi or logout.
Funny, but I can connect from my Ipad to the Xfinity Stream Live using my Private Wifi and no problems. Why is the Xfinity Stream on roku having such a problem? Xfinity should be able to see the IP address running the Stream app is coming from an Xfinity Internet connection.

open your firewall to xfinity.com (not to filter anything). can't use a VPN function.

the firewall is open to all TRX types. There is no VPN blocking it. I am an IT professional and have a business line as well as a residential line. I can from my android device or my ipad connect to Xfinity stream just fine through my Wifi that is going through the Sonicwall, as these platforms make you log into the Xfinity.com service. So they validate the account. Every other Roku Service that I use such as Prime Video and Netflix, makes you log into the service to verify it. But the Roku Xfinity Stream Beta does not.
when you try to access the Xfinity Stream Beta on a Roky device it states to use Xfinity Wifi.
I have a smart Roku TV which is wired ethernet for better signal and it does the same thing. What is crazy about all of this, is Xfinity knows by the IP address that it is a legal Comcast Account. No wonder why the Roku app is still in BETA, because they need to do quite a bit more testing until it works properly.

I have my own APs and router. 4 rokus and no issues. try running it without the firewall attached/running so it is a native connection. their forum/tech support may have help.

I cannot disconnect the Sonicwall. I run a business out of here and I have 25 VPN tunnels connected. You must be using the xfinitywifi which allows outside people into your Xfinity network. This is highly risky. I work for a Cloud company, and they have us turn this off on all of our client networks.
The firewall is Not blocking anything. I read the log. This apparently is looking for xfinitywifi, and I have it turned off on my account.

I stated in my 1st email, that I can connect to xfinity stream from my Cell Phone through the Cell Phone provider, or through my Sonicwall wifi service, same with my Ipad, same process.
But the big difference is Xfinity Stream on IOS and Android it asks for the username and password, the Roku Xfinity Stream Beta Does not. So it assumes you have the xfinitywifi set on in your account, and it is looking for that.
No where on the instructions for Xfinity Stream Beta Roku does it state this, but apparently this is the case. I have let Xfinity Technical support know that they need to update their installation instructions and very clearly state that you have to have the xfinitywifi set to on in your account for this to work.
CANNOT do this at my home due to work conditions. My internal wifi network is even a completely different subnet than my PC's and such due to work concerns. I also have GEO-IP turned on, and almost every country in the world is blocked by default.

Didn't you do the 'authorize' step on your roku to associate it with your account?
