Xfinity Remote App

I don’t see a forum for the remote app, but all of sudden, now, when I use my phone to change channels, I cannot do it. There’s apparently no tv added? I never removed it. How do I enable my phone remote app to setup again to change channels. I can use the app to see the what’s on, but there’s no place to click to change to the channel.

go to xfinity.com and sign in. select account, then users. create a new user and use that new username/password to sign in. working now?

I don’t understand why I need to create a new user to change my channel on my phone.

it is a test to determine if there are issues with your current username in the back office databases. the new user is not tied to any other account/address.

I have been having this same issue for the last two days. I have called twice with no results. I am ready to just get rid of the whole thing. This may be my final straw with Comcast. The app is so convenient, but not so much if you can’t use and there is no support and all you get are lies. I was told they are doing an update on all of their applications and “it would be fixed better than ever” when the upgrade is complete!

Same problem? I’m going to just request a second remote control so one can sit on either side of the family room. I don’t see the need to create new users only to change channels. For the most part, Comcast is pretty fair. It was “neat” to change channels on a smart phone, but totally not necessary.

I think the people who have had to create a new secondary user have somehow gotten two comcast accounts associated with their own login - like an old expired account and a current one.   The app can be confused by the expired account with no equipment but when you add a secondary user the new login becomes tied to the current account.    I had something like that happen a few years ago after having a different service for a while and coming back to comcast.  I think I had to work with their security department to get the account straightend out and keep the old secondary accounts for my wife and kids working.
