Re: Casting Xfinity Stream Content to Chromecast Now Available

I'm also long time xfinity customer.  Now, with the newest version of the Xfinity Stream App you can cast to your TV (BRAVO !!!) ...  so, this is what makes me frustrated...  On my Roku I'm not allowed to use the Xfinity App off my network, YET I can cast from my mobile to the TV that has my Roku attached !!!

Please fix this !!!  Please allow the Roku (and apple TV?) Xfinity Streaming app to be used OFF network !!!

If the streaming box apps only intention to be used On-Network (at home) as a cable box replacement, what HUGE waste of effort of their part...  They could have a very useful product to be used OFF network attached streaming box capability...

Good use cases:

People on vacation who take their streaming box with them...
People who temporarily need to live somewhere else who would like to view their recorded shows... etc...

I moved your off-topic reply to a separate thread. the use of chromecast has nothing to do with using a Roku app. Apple TV is not announced so no plans for it at this time. the Stream TV (beta) app is only for on network use due to contract limitations with the providers of programming.

edit: combined your off-topic replies to this thread

Re: Stream TV app not working

Not entirely true. How is using the xfinity stream beta on my portable smart phone, tablet, chromebook off network allowed then. Why are the negotiations different for those devices vs the off network streaming boxes (which are allowed while on network). It all didn’t make any common sense.
I guess I’ll just “cast” the xfinity streaming app off network to those TVs that have my streaming boxes on them to get around this insane restriction.
