How does Roku account affect Xfinitiy Streaming app

I spent 2-3 days with Xfinity tech support trying to get my live TV channels to show up in the Xfinity Streaming Beta. Everything worked but LiveTV.

They were very helpful but fruitless elevating me up 2 tiers of support. On my own, I created a new Roku account using my comcast email instead of other email and it worked.

I didn't go back and forth to prove this as the solution. If it is, how could this possibly affect things? I ask this because tech support didn't think this would matter and didn't investigate it until I did it on my own.

your subject for the thread speaks of Roku,  do you have a working set top box in your home? if so, does a smart phone/tablet and desk/laptop stream the live channels? is your Roku a recent model?
