Possible solution to all Xfinity apps and Account login not working on PC or Smartphone

Symptom:

All Xfinity apps including “My Xfinity”, “Xfinity streaming” and XFI on IOS IPhone and logging into XFinity account on my PC via my home network would ether hang in “initialization” or hang at the Xfinity authentication screen. 

 

Troubleshooting:

Turned off WIFI on my Iphone and used LTE Cellular.  All IOS Xfinity apps worked on my Iphone.

 

Assumption:

Xfinity apps would not work on my network possibly due to Xfinity blocking my internet IP address for unknown reason.

 

Action taken:

Make a note of your internet IP address via your personal router before next step.

Rebooted my Comcast cable modem.  This is the device that’s connected via a coax cable.  Hit the power button waited two minutes and turned on again.  The first time it came up I didn’t get any internet so I repeated the power down/up procedure on the cable modem.  After doing the power down/up procedure the second time  I received a different internet IP address and all of my apps listed above in the “Symptom” section were working as they had been previously.

Thank you so much for this post! I have been having this issue for a little over a month now, and I partially used your workthough. With my LTE I logged into my account, and went through the modem restart. After restarting the modem like this, everything worked again. Thank you so much!
