Logging into website

I spent over an hour trying to login to pay my bill, but the webpage always timed out. I couldn’t even loin to the app. Why did I finally have to switch to my Verizon data plan to log in on my phone when I have Xfinity Internet? Everything else worked fine through Internet. I don’t understand this.
