Moved houses and cannot get internet activated - thinking of moving to AT&T

Very, very frustrated. We moved 2 days ago, we moved the modem and equipment, plugged it in, and service guy came and said all looked good. We CANNOT get internet on. I've spent close to 6 hours in 3-4 Live Chats. Each time I'm told it's fixed, to shut down modem and turn on and .... Still not on. We moved less than 1/4 mile in same town. Every time I connected to Chat I got a different story: address wrong or 2 accts at one address?... or "you don't have internet on your acct" (we do, I'm looking at the list of what we are paying for.)
My kids are trying to do online school and very upset. We have NO wifi.

I've talked to agents in India, Philippines, Mexico, all tried to help. Last chat ended at 10:30 last night!
The Last Straw was an hour ago when I called an 855-652-3446 number that was to get it finally activated. The automated answer refused to accept my birthdate as part of my ID and hung up!

   I tried to log into a chat AGAIN and was refused as too busy and someone will call me in 30 minutes! 

  We are about to cancel the whole Comcast thing and switch to AT&T! 6 hours on chats is all I can stand!!

When the service tech was there, did the internet work, or did just most of the lights on the modem come on?  [He did come in and hook it up for you, didn't he?]  Are you sure the outlet you're plugged in to is live?
