New Service/ Switch from Verizon

When I switched from Verizon to Xfinity Voice, no on told me I had to plug the phone into the modem in order for it to work.  No one told me a technician would have to come and switch the phone wall jacks in the rooms of my house.  (I'm not even sure that is what will be done.)  What about cordless phones that are housed in a base which is plugged into a electric wall outlet.  Right now, the only phone that works is the one plugged directly in the modem.  Can I have all the current phone jacks switched to accomdate Xfinity Voice?  Will cordless phones work with this service?

Yes. The installer should have:

  1. Disconnected your current telco from your home's phone wiring.
  2. Run a standard modular base cord from the modem/Wifi router/eMTA gateway device to the nearest telephone jack to energize your home's phone outlets.

That should allow any phone plugged in to any jack in the house to work. If you have a phone in the room where the gateway is located and only 1 phone jack there, you'll need some sort of phone wiring "Y" connector for that.
