Since recieving the new XB6 upstairs for internet and WiFi and having to replace my phone modem in my basement, because it died after 5 years, it appears that the XB6 can not be indentified in the Comcast systems as my primary modem. Therefore I can not manage my connected devices because the phone modem is showing as my primary gateway.
I have been informed to resolve this issue I now have to purchase my own phone modem. I have looked at those available on the mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com, but still can't determine which will work with out interferring with the new XB6.
I am somewhat technically challenged and of course Comcast can not recommend which modem to choose. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as this has been going on since June 20, 2019. Thank you
Thanks for posting to the Xfinity Forums. I'd like to review your account first, before advising you to purchase a new modem to make sure the old modem has been removed from the backend of your account and if the will help see the Xfinity modem. Can you please send me a private message with your first and last name? To send a private message click on my name "ComcastChe", then click send a message.
I would send a privte message except that when I click on your name I am not seeing anywhere to click to send a private message!
@softtail98harle - My apologies, the private messaging feature is disabled on your account. I will reach out to our community manager and will update this thread as soon as I get a reply back.
Any idea why that would be disabled for me??? not like I am a new customer! Sure sends a strong message to me on where I stand with Comcast!
@softtail98harle - We recently made a permission change for all users. Since your account was registered in 2014 but you didn't have any public submissions before we made a change - your status was changed to Visitor (visitors don't have a PM feature enabled). It has nothing to do with your Comcast account. Your PM feature is enabled now. Please click on my name ComcastElla, then click Send a message.
