Connecting HP4650 all-in-one printer /copy/scan/FAX to XB6 modem

I have connected a 2-wire phone cord to my HP Officejet 4650 all-in-one in the #2 line socket. I have an Xfinity XB6-T internet modem with 2 line sockets , #1 is the phone line coming in, amd the #2 is empty. Can the #2 socket  on the XB6-T be used for the fax line, directly connected to the 4650?

Yes, you will need to activate a second line(phone number).

I do not have a second #(can't afford), but I have a special ringtone for incoming faxes. The modem I use is an xfinity CGM4140COM, and my Printer/fax is compatable. To connect the 4650 to the modem , should I plug in the 2-wire cord into the modem's #2 port?

Again, no, there’s no live phone connection there without a second line.. If you need to fax something hook it up to the modem’s line one when you need it, since you don’t want a second line
