Lately our home answering machine has been hijacked by a strange message. When you call our number, after 5-6 rings, an automated message from Xfinity comes on that says "mailbox number you're trying to reach is not in service, goodbye". Then the call is abruptly terminated before our answering machine can pick up.
I opted to not use the xfinity voicemail and it was working just fine for years. I'm guessing comcast made some changes recently??
What do I need to do to make it so my answering machine works again?
