iPhone Mail app: The mail server "imap.comcast.net" is not responding

Suddenly this week I am no longer able to receive my Comcast emails on my iPhone Mail app.  I have verified the account settings, made certain the password was correct and no luck.  I continue to get a message:  The mail server "imap.comcast.net" is not not responding.  I called customer support and spoke to 7 really unhelpful people who were mystified by the problem and got not resoultion.  This has been working on my phone for years.  Any ideas for a fix?

I had the same issue, because I had changed my Comcast password, but the iPhone didn’t update it for Outlook. It’s an iPhone flaw, not Comcast.

Go into Settings, Passwords and Accounts, and then select Comcast. Select your account under IMAP. Where it says Incoming Mail Server, enter your current password on the third line. Hit Done, and then open Outlook. Click on any folder, and it will update.

Good Luck 👍🏻

Worked for me on iphone & ipad-but only after much fussing with both username & password and getting both verified. Why is Apple so touchy? Thanks!

Hi.  I have the iphone trouble of all of a sudden not being able to get new e-mails.  SO:  I tried your solution and went through every step untill you said to go to OUTLOOK.  I could not find anywhere on my iphone the word OUTLOOK .   Please tell me, if you can, how I get to that.  Thanks.

I am having same issue.  I have an Iphone 8.  I occassionally would get the message about "imap.comast.net is not responding" but usually when I was in the car.  This past Friday, May 1, I received the message again and now still no email on Monday!  I tried adding my password under settings, I tried deleting and re-adding, I updated my software, rebooted, I even tried imap.email.comcast.net.  Nothing works.  If someone has another idea, please let me know!!!!

Its touch for sure but this is waht I noticed:

go into Settings on the iphone

Go to Passowrds & Accounts

Next select the Comcast email account this is under 'Accounts'

Next under INCOMING MAIL SERVICES: change the password

DO NOT HIT DONE

The very Next thing is you under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:

The to under PRIMARY SERVER select smpt.comcast.net (this should be set to "on").

Under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER change the password here.

Then hit Done.  this hsould take you back  to the main page of this menu.  Hit Done again.

It should verify with the blue check marks.

My theory, based on testing this a few times, is that when you change the paswword for the incoming mail server it still checks the outgoing server for the same password and fails but it does not show show this one the main page.

Hopefully this works for all.

Spoiler
myComcast email account STOPPED on MAC, iPod, iPhone  - after 1/2 hour explaining it to tech- I was promised a return phone call by some expert-- IT  NEVER CAME...  now my Facebook account which was created using my COMCAST email address might also be compromised as well as missing ALL incoming emails to my Comcast email address   I tried repeatedly to enter what is a proven GOOD  password but I can't get anywhere and often get  COMCAST IS NOT AVAILABLE - try later!   HORRIBLE -- thank goodness I always have reliable Gmail to use
