For the last several months, my email page has an ERROR MESSAGE, about gmail and it goes and comes back.  I want it gone forever.

Do you have Gmail added as an external account in the left pane under "Add mail account"?  If so, you need to delete it.  Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the Inbox page, then on Settings>>>>>>Accounts.  There you will see the Gmail account, and at the far right there is a trashcan icon.  Click on it.

Yes, the instructions seemed to work.  The error msg. has not returned,  You are a miracle worker! I can't thank you enough!
