Deactivated E-mail account is still receiving email?!?!

I have deactivated a secondary Comcast.net email account but for some reason this email is still able to receive messages. I am no longer able to long into the Comcast server due to my username and password being disabled but my phone still has the ability to see emails that I send from other accounts. I was under the impression that once the email account has been deactivated that email would no longer be able to be received by the Comcast.net account. Does anyone have any experience with this and would be able to help?

When you say "deactivated", exactly what do you mean?  If you mean you deleted a secondary user ID, see here------------

 

When a user ID (that part of the email address to the left of the @ symbol) is changed or deleted, it is suspended for 90 days, and then released back into the pool of available IDs for any Comcast customer that wants to claim it.  However, the account still is active in the background.  You just can't access it easily anymore.  But during that 90 day period, anyone could still send you an email, and if the account is enabled in a desktop client or a mail app it can still be seen that way.
