I know that there is supposed to be the ability to change the default font in email settings but even after chaging it, the beginning of a new email shows as Verdana 11pt not Arial 10pt as I want it to be.
I have gone into Email Settings, Compose and made the changes to Arial 10pt but when I next try to compoase an email, it still shows the Verdana 11pt font in the body of the email.
Can anyone assist.
I feel your pain , until I get my cataract surgery , I prefer Comic Sans , 11pt , B, & I - the default setting seems to be Helvetica 12pt plain , not B or I .
I set my preference when I start an email but it reverts back to default when I hit "enter" to begin a new paragraph .
Hope Xfinity tech gurus see these comments and enable email users to keep their settings throughout an email .
No, sorry to say, I have received no other feedback from anyone. For all we pay for Comcast, our requests for help often fall on deaf ears.
Set your default font in the account settings instead of in the Compose window. On the Inbox page click on the gear icon in the upper right corner, then on Settings>>>>>Mail>>>>>>Compose. There you will find the font settings including size. 16 pt is the max. Then sign out of the account and back in again to make sure the changes "take".
I appreciate the answer but that does not work. I have done this several times to be sure I have not missed anything and it never stays as changed. I am a retired IT person so I am not a complete novice here but, trust me, while what you say makes perfect sense, it does not work.
@billtag Thanks for trying that out! Sorry that didn't do the trick. Looks like others have had similar issues with the font size on our forums pages. Take a look at this example: https://comca.st/36X1MLt. Let us know if that helped at all.
I know how to change it in an email, what I want to be able to do is change it permanently in the settings. As I responded earlier today, I know how to change it in the settings but the problem is that Comcast does not retain my saved changes so that on my next email, the problem persists.
Just to clarify, you are logging into your email via https://comca.st/2Z685YQ or are you using a different email client?
Can you try to clear your cache and cookies and then attempt those steps again, making sure to log out and back in, to see if you are able to keep the preferred font and size please?
None of that works. Interestingly, I have another Comcast accoung login and that one has the correct font/size. It is on another account that I use for certain emails where this issues exists.
We may have to submit a ticket for our backend team can look into this specific username/email. Do you mind sending me a PM with your full name and address, so I can assist further?
To send me a private message, click on my name, "ComcastKorie," and then click send a message.
Would you please verify something for us, please?
In Settings/Compose what is your Format emails as: setting? HTML, Plain, or HTML and plain text.
It is HTML.
Try changing to HTML and plain text. Let us know.
Okay 2 things: 1. I changed to HTML and Plain text and signed out and back in but it is still showing as Verdana 11pt when I click to compose and email and not Arial 10pt as I changed it. 2. When I looked at my billtag account which is working okay, it was already set to HTML and Plain text. I was hoping that by changing the heatherwoodcommunications account the same it would resolve the issue but it did not. Obviously something else is off.
This is definitely going to have to be escalated, then. I don't use webmail, but Thunderbird where this kind of stuff isn't an issue. I am sorry I wasn't able to help resolve this.
Hi @billtagg, are you trying to change the font for your Xfinity email?
I really do appreciate it when someone tries to help me but it becomes extremely frustrating when I see a question like yours. I have explained to a couple of people on this forum thread what is my issue with Comcast/Xfinity (call it what you like) email is, the inability on one of my accounts to set the default font and point size and have it stay when I then go to compose an email.
I have been told how to do it which I was already aware of and I think I have been pretty clear in describing the issue, so I really don't undersatnd why you are asking me "are you trying to change the font for your Xfinity email? "
If I am missing something in your query please let me know.
Thanks Latoque , settings/email/compose helped me a lot - I can't set the type to bold and italics ( but Comic Sans may already be italics) but your solution post is a big help !!
