Xfinity Home Key Fob
i have an Xfinity Home Security install scheduled and we are used to having key fobs, but the feeling that I'm getting from both Xfinity technical support and from other posts is that they may no longer be supported or at the very least they are trying to discourage me from getting them. My sister has some that she is no longer using (SMC) and wanted to see 1) if anyone else is using them and 2) is the compatability of the key fob dependant on what base you have?

I don't think they're sold anymore. Have them handy at time of install, the re h will be the best source of information.

therein lies the problem
the answer that i'm getting depends on who you talk to
phone rep: oh, i didn't know we had key fobs. that must be new
in home consultant: yes, we can get them but why don't you just use the app?
installation tech: those are old and not even sure that i can get them.
i don't want to have to pull my phone out every time just to arm/disarm the system. BTDT with our current system, and it's a much bigger PITA than using a key fob.
i work in tech, so don't bother telling me to get with the times.

Supported models are the SMC SMCKF01-Z or the Hitron HT-KF1.
To add a key fob, the technician will go to Settings, Devices, and enter their installer code, then select Home Devices, Key Fobs, Add Key Fob.
From that point... For the SMC model, remove the battery. Replace the battery while holding down the center * button and any other button. When the LED flashes green, release the buttons. The Touchscreen will find the device and the tech can finish the pairing process.
I hope that helps!

To clarify - Key Fobs are still fully supported if you have a supported model, we just don't sell them in all markets. They can still be purchased online through third party sellers. We stopped stocking them in some areas due to an extreme drop in popularity, as most (but certainly not all) customers prefer to use the Xfinity Home app to arm or disarm and we were seeing very few requests for Key Fobs.
In most areas, Water sensors are still available as well. Simply give us a call to have one added to your order, or ask your technician if he or she is able to add it to your order at the time of installation.
I know that CO sensors have been requested from time to time, but you are the first cutomer I have seen ask about freeze sensors - I will provide feedback to the product team that you are looking for both!
