Home Security Expansion
I have your basic Home security setup, with a console, keypad, 3 doors, and a motion detector, and I'm kooking to expand. My first expansion of interest is a doorbell camera, which seems to run aground immeditely. I see that you have outdoor cameras available, but there doesn't appear to be an actual doorbell model. Do you have a functional solution?
Looking beyond the doorbell, I'm also interested in some ther items, such as smart outlets. I currently have a number of Kasa Smart outlets. They are of particular interest for me because in addition to being controllable by remote, they provide power usage tracking. I also have a new Honeywell smart thermostat.
I'm interested in pulling all of these devices into a single control environment, but that effort is causing fits. At present, I have separate utilities to manage home security, smart outlets, power monitoring, solar generation, and my thermostat. As I move forward, I'd like to consolidate, but even the first step for a doorbell camera is apparantly problematic.
Does Xfinity offer any solutions for my dilemma, or should I start looking for an alternative?
Thanks,
Dave

Managing smart devices across multiple systems and apps can definitely be challenging. We are working to expand the number of devices that integrate into our ecosystem, as well as to integrate two of our Apps - the Xfinity Home App (primarily used for Security and Home Automation) and the Xfinity App (formerly the xFi App, classically used for managing Internet service and connectivity).
Devices that can currently be integrated in to the Xfinity Home app are listed here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/works-with-xfinity-home-devices
Devices that can currently be integrated into the Xfinity app are listed here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/works-with-xfinity-xfi-devices
In the future, you will see that our Apps converge more and more with the ultimate goal be to give you the ability to control all devices on both lists from one app.
The good news - some Honeywell Thermostats are on the compatiblity list for the Xfinity App. We are also working on plans for a secure Doorbell integration which I think folks are going to love. I don't have specifics to share yet but we hope to have some news next year.
Kasa smart outlets are not on the compatiblity lists yet, but I will definitely provide feedback to the developers that we'd like to get them added. Energy management is becoming more an more important, and I belive that ComcastAndrew was referring to the fact that we don't yet incorporate this feature into Xfintiy Home.
I hope that helps!

I stand corrected! The Xfinity App does now support some Kasa devices made by TP Link.
After you open the Xfinity App, click on the Home tab at the bottom. Next, click the Plus sign to add a Device in the upper-right. Here, you should see the option to add a TP-Link account.
Give it a shot and let us know if it works for you!

Well thanks, that's definitely a clear answer. Of course it does beg the question of WHY NOT? But then we all know Comcast's habit of being largely half-assed. Why not have a full, comprehensive security system with smart home automation built-in? Yeah, the $64k question. I guess I'll look elsewhere
Thanks!

Did the TP-Link integration through the Xfinity app not work for you?

The Xfi app has been useless since the update to iOS 14. My Home Security app wouldn't let me access it one day when the app was being updated. It said the primary account holder needed to grant access to me. I am primary account holder. My husband couldn't log in either. A message when you tap on the app that says "we're doing some updates" would help. Since getting someone on the phone at 6 or 7 am ridiculous. I like the apps separate. They just need to work correctly. Thank you
