Death in family - Can't cancel account over the phone!?
My step-daughter's father passed away last Wednesday. She attempted to cancel his service at his residence and was told that a copy of the death certificate was required and to "scan it in" and email it in. She doesn't have access to a scanner..so she was told to go to a neighbor to scan it. Are you kidding me. My wife's mother passed away in Feb and we called in to Comcast and it wasn't even an issue. This is ridiculous. It's bad enough that he passed away suddenly, but to be treated in the fashion (I overheard conversation) and his refusal to transfer to a supervisor is unexcusable.
Why do we have to jump through hoops to cancel an account....This is just wrong. The guy told her that "one bad apple spoiled the barrell"...Really, How about showing some compassion in such a time that we find ourselves.

Actually, the policy is to provide a copy of the death certificate.
If she wasn't authorized on her father's account there isn't anything anyone can do without the death certificate.
For lack of a scanner she can always take a photo with her phone and email that that in.
