Bill payment confirmation emails

I am receiving emails confirming payment of my bill with a Mastercard.  I DO NOT HAVE A CREDIT CARD ON FILE LINKED TO MY ACCOUNT.  I pay my bills with scheduled payments through my credit union.  The last payment that the email says was received has not come through my credit union account yet.  WHY IS THIS HAPPENING???

Who is the email from?  Are you sure it is NOT a PHISHING attempt?

I've been fighting this for over a year along with others and have gotten nowhere. If you are able to get it corrected, please post how you did it.
