YouTube Restricted Mode

I just received my new internet modem and now I cannot see any comments on YouTube. I've done PLENTY of research but I cannot find a solution. I've even added profiles and made sure that Parental Controls were set to off. Please help me to resolve this issue.

Hey there, I am sorry for your situation, unfortunately that has nothing to do with your equipment or Xfinity in general. I would reach out to YouTube support and ask them how to remove that restriction for you.

Thank you for responding, but this IS a Xfinity situation. When Xfinity xfi Advanced Security is turned on the following is automatically enabled:

  • Google SafeSearch: On
  • Bing SafeSearch: Strict
  • YouTube Restricted Mode: On

This is from the Xfinity website. And when YouTube restricted mode is on you cannot see the comments on any video and some videos are blocked even though they are not unsavory.

From the YouTube support page:

Restricted Mode is an optional setting that you can use on YouTube. This feature can help screen out potentially mature content that you or others using your devices may prefer not to view.

Computers in libraries, universities, and other public institutions may have Restricted Mode turned on by a network administrator.

Turn Restricted Mode on or off

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. At the top right, click your profile photo .
  3. At the bottom, click Restricted Mode.
  4. In the top-right box that opens, to turn Restricted Mode on or off, click Activate Restricted Mode.

Give that a try!

What does this page tell you?  Any restrictions listed when you look at it with a browser?  https://www.youtube.com/check_content_restrictions

This page provides the details about how you would change settings:
