Xinfity rep said I can save money if I buy my own modem and don't rent.

Can someone help me find a gateway/modem/router to replace my xfinity modem I am renting. 

I have the model CGM4981COM which looks like this :

Anyone recently buy theirs so they can replace the rental?  If so, can you please list compatible devices.
