xfinitywifi Hotspots stopped working on my osx laptop

I used to be able to log on to xfinity hotspots without a problem on this machine (Macbook Pro, Ventura 13.3.1). After the first login, it would often autoconnect.

Then it hit an issue where it would autoconnect, but fail, with a version of the menubar wifi icon that had an exclamation point through it. Turning off wifi and then turning it on sometimes fixed it.

At that point I tried installing a xfinity wifi hotspot profile, hoping that would solidify a fix, and it did for one session.

Since then, it automatically connects, showing a successful connection in my menubar (though "unsecured"), but nothing loads at all (nothing in a web browser, nor pinging via the Terminal).

I've tried all of the following many times and in many different orders:

  • removing the wifi profile.
  • reinstalling the wifi profile
  • Restarting.
  • "Forget this network" and reconnecting

Nothing seems to work. It seems to be holding onto some information about the network that I can't erase and start fresh.

The same xfinity hotspot is working via my Android phone, so it's not the network. All of this has been happening for a few months.

Thank you for any help! I would love to be able to work outside the house again!!!

Hello @user_p99zky, thank you for visiting our forum for help with your Firestick. Is this the only device you have that is running into connection issues over a hotspot? If so, is your Firestick able to connect to your home network by chance? I want to make sure we're on the same page, and ask a few clarifying questions to get us there. But I have your back on this, and we'll get to the bottom of things together.
