Xfinitywifi Hotspot

The past few days the hotspot been acting up, basically connecting and disconnecting jumping from one network to another, when I try to sign in with the browser the first day I was getting a orange ! saying I'm connected to wifi hotspot but your home network is in range. Now when I try to sign its connecting me to xfinity mobile... but I'm trying to connect my pc... I feel like my session has expired and I need to log in again.

Greetings, @user_bba14! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with this hotspot, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

Can you tell me a little more about where this is happening? When you received the error saying your home network was in range, was that accurate, or were you offsite at the time? Is this happening with multiple hotspots, or is it just happening in one location?

It's happening at home when I try to connect to the wifi hotspot. I was able to use it for months without an issue, I know the wifi hotspot is still active and working because when I reset network adapter, clear my cache, restart gateway, I'm able to connect for sometime but after a while I get a message more actions needed and asking me to sign with my credentials but when I do it either signs me into xfinity mobile hotspot or I get message with orange ! saying my home network is in range... pretty sure my session is expired and need to sign in again buy it's not connecting me to xfinitywifi hotspot.

Thank you for clarifying, @user_bba14. This may just be happening as a security measure. The "xfinitywifi" hotspot is open and unencrypted, whereas the "Xfinity Mobile" hotspot uses encryption for better security. Connecting to your home network accomplishes the same thing. You mentioned trying to connect your PC. Is this happening on multiple devices, or just with the one PC? Do you know if there were any recent security or software updates on your PC that would alert you about an unencrypted connection?

Not that I can see, I understand that xfinitywifi hotspot is uncrypted but I don't have a xfinity mobile account or when I try to sign into it I can't..

It's happening on my pc n phone... but I wanna use it on my pc that I been using it on.

Got it! Thank you for letting me know what was happening, @user_bba14. If you are having issues with multiple devices connecting to your hotspot, we may need to check those settings. If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you.

To send a Direct Message, please click on the “Direct Message” icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon, then type or select "Xfinity Support". Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window and press Enter to send your message and initiate a live session.

@user_bba14 Thank you for trusting my team to answer all your questions about your xfinitywifi public hotspot. Xfinity recommends using your private home WiFi network when you're at home for better security and performance. The Xfinity Mobile hotspot is designed primarily for use when you're away from home.

Our forum page is an excellent resource to find answers to all your Xfinity questions and you can always manage your account, troubleshoot, and get help through the Xfinity app. Thank you for your continued loyalty and I hope you have a great rest of your day!
