Xfinity REMOVED router-level port forward functionality? Why?
The newest Xfinity router update has removed the ability to port forward devices on a router OS level, instead forcing users to use their XFi app, which on paper is nice for people who don’t know what they’re doing, but in practice, is buggy as can be. I can no longer make changes and add to existing port profiles I have already created on the router. In fact, I can’t add/open any ports to any devices anymore, since the XFi app spits errors at me (WITH NO ERROR CODES) telling me to ‘restart my router’ or ‘try again later’. (Yes I’ve restarted my router...) Why would Comcast/xfinity force users to use this terrible and clunky new interface? Why remove the original option entirely, especially when it worked the best and was very reliable? Please revert these changes, or I will be forced to return this router and just buy my own.
