Xfinity hotspot suddenly out of range

So I recently moved in with my grandparents to help take care of them during this pandemic. They don’t have WiFi, but I learned you can buy on demand WiFi passes for Xfinity hotspots. I saw there was a hotspot across the street so I bought a pass and connected on my Xbox. Everything was perfectly fine for about a week until I experienced an abrupt interruption in service, and I haven’t been able to connect to it ever since. I called the customer support and they weren’t much help as they told me it was most likely because my device was out of range from the hotspot, even though it was in range before. How could my device be in range for a week straight and then all of a sudden not be in range? I haven’t moved my device at all and the hotspot is still in service as of the last time I checked. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

It could be you were on the hotspot from someone else’s and they don’t have service anymore

Is there any reason why the hotspot would still show as active? And why it still shows up in the list of networks on my device? If the hotspot is no longer in service it shouldn’t still show up like it is

In wifi menu, click "forget network" for both lowercase xfinity and uppercase XFINITY wifi networks.    Then retry.     Can you get any other xFiNiTy hotspots working that used to work before if you wander a bit?  Have you tried the 'xfinity-hotspot app' to see the locations of current/legit hotspots?     I hope your nearby hotspot shows up on the legit hotspot map!   The hotspot may have been swapped or reconfigured or moved.   Does your phone pop up a dialog box that says "please move closer to the network in order to connect"?    Do you have the hotspot-profile installed, especially if its an iPhone?   Please do install the xfinity hotspot-profile - it is probably the best way to ensure that you are connecting to a legit xfinity hotspot and not to a fake/man-in-the-middle-attack hotspot.

FWIW, just because it is powered on and broadcasting its SSID / network name doesn't guarantee that it is actually connected to the internet.
