XFINITY HOME wired port

I’m working on segmenting my home stuff out (isolating internet of [Edited: profanity] stuff to start) and was going to use the DMZ function on the xFi gateway. I see in the admin portal though an option to associate port 2 to “XFINITY HOME”. I can’t find anything though explaining what that actually means…anyone have some sort of idea?

DMZ is a bad idea.

What that means is your work gear is exposed to the entire internet with no firewall.  Your work won't be impressed.  Don't do this with a windows box.  If you know what you are doing, and are running a separate firewall on the box in the DMZ, or you are protecting it by other means, that's fine.  But you need to be aware of the risks.

Xfinity gear doesn't subnet or Vlan.  You'd need other equipment for that if you want to do that sort of thing.

Yes. That is used for the interfacing of their Xfinity Home Security systems.
