Xfinity had me setup two networks because Xfinity was not automatically selecting the 2.4network for my ChimePro Plus

so since you had me setup two network 2.4  and 5.0 I had to assign my devices to the networks.  So I assigned my Ring Chime Pro to the 2.4 network. I had to reinstall all my other devices to the 5.0 network which was time consuming. I am now considering Xfinity wifi extenders mainly for my ring devices. It wants me have one name and network. What do I select so that it will connect the ring devices to the 2.4 and not have to reinstall everything to the 5.0. If I can just talk to someone, issues like this could be resolved.[Edited: "Inflammatory"]

Hi there, user_la5k8h. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. I understand you’ve already spent time setting up your home network, and I know it can be frustrating when things don’t go as planned. I’m here to help troubleshoot and get everything running smoothly.
Here are the essentials about Xfinity Gateways and WiFi settings:

Xfinity Gateways provide strong WiFi, fast internet, and easy control of your home network.
Bands:

2.4 GHz: Best range, slower, more crowded
5 GHz: Faster, less crowded, shorter range
6 GHz (WiFi 6E on XB8): Fastest, least crowded, shortest range

Tip: Use one WiFi name and password for all bands. This enables band steering, so your gateway automatically picks the best band for each device.
WiFi Extenders: Require a single WiFi name and password for all bands.

Managing Advanced WiFi Settings:

XB2 Gateway: Use the Admin Tool (Xfinity app doesn’t support advanced settings).
1st Gen Gateway (no extenders): Use the Xfinity app or Admin Tool.
XB6 or newer: Advanced settings are managed automatically for optimal performance and aren’t visible in the app or Admin Tool.
If you see channel settings and they’re set to Auto, your gateway will choose the best channel based on device capability, distance, and congestion.

Question: Do both of your networks share the same WiFi name and password?

For more details on changing WiFi channel selection or mode, check out our guide on using the Xfinity App or Gateway Admin Tool.

I have two networks with different names  Jim 2.4ghz and Jim 5.0ghz with the same password. Most of my devices computer, laptop, printers, Echo Shows, firesticks, Roku, sound bars, LG TV's, Samsung TV's are connected to Jim 5.0ghz. However the brand steering did not connect my ring chime pro which is an extender for Ring Cameras to the 2.4ghz. When I called Xfinity they told me I had to create two networks and assign the Ring Chime pro to the 2.4ghz network. I reinstalled by Garage door opener camera MYQ to the 2.4 ghz. What I did not realize and what Xfinity did not tell me is that I had to reinstall 15 other devices to the Jim 5.0ghz network which was a pain and time consuming.   So my question is if I have to pick one name and  lets say I pick Jim 5.0ghz  for the Xfinity wifi extenders so most of my devices stay connected on that network, will the Xfinity Gateway automatically connect my outdoor ring devices on the 2.4ghz band ? I assume I will go to each ring device to provide the network name which would be Jim 5.0ghz, but will my Gateway device connect it to the 2.4ghz band ? I assume I will have to reinstall my MYQ garage door opener and camera since its on the 2.4ghz. How do I know if I have a new modem that is smart enough to do this. I rent my Xfinity Gateway ?
