Xfinity Gig Internet a Waste of $$$

Okay, So I have a VERY expensive PC.  I had the plan with 900 mbps download speeds and was getting every last bit of it.  I recently upgraded to a plan with Gig Internet n my download speeds are identical to what I had n the only difference was a cpl mbps upload.  My modem n router are both top notch with a cat6e Ethernet cable.  I SHOULD be getting 1200-1400 mbps download for the rediculous cost of this plan.  I'd definitely recommend not pulling the trigger on Gig net till Xfinity stops shorting their customers.  You'll get the same speed with a cheaper plan.  I've also ran all kinds of troubleshooting and I'm convinced this is on Xfinitys end.  Too many Gig net users not getting their advertised speeds that they are paying an arm n leg for.

I get both 1400+ with ethernet and wifi, so they do deliver what they advertise...

@jlavaseur you don't get 1400 mbps + on wifi. Don't lie.  Wired , sure but not on wifi

I get 1300 on my laptop wifi, but only 800 on my LAN- connected PS5. It often has to do with the device, not Comcast.

Then u r the exception.  They are [Edited: "Language"] most ppl. Check the forum. Just cuz u r special doesn't mean they r doing everyone right.   I pay almost 300 a month, I expect 1200-1400, not 930.  They can fix it or refund me but I'm not paying for something they aren't delivering me.

so does your equipment support more then 1000 Mbps? you would need at least a 2.5 gig network card or your equipment caps you at around 930, plus your modem and router have to support the higher speeds...

as mentioned in another reply, you need to have a multigig port (at least 2.5ghz) on both your pc as well as your gateway. if you only have gigabit ports on either end, then you WON'T see speeds above 1000 mbps regardless of how much you spent on your pc.

As mentioned in the original post, my equipment isn't the issue.   If the exact models need be posted then my modem is Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 Which supports 6000 mbps.  I have a TP Link Archer AX11000 $400+ Router.  I have modem connected to 2.5g Wan port. Router connected n PC motherboard Ethernet supports 100/1000/10000 so I'm completely confused as it's not my equipment limiting me

So that particular router has 8 gigabit lan ports, so your capped at 1000 Mbps….

@jlavaseur perhaps you should review that comment again.  That router should not cap at 1000 mbps n it has a 2.5ghz WAN Port... but you seem pretty persistant n certain that it's my equipment that can't handle the speeds much like your certainty that you are getting 1400+ on wifi.  I'll wait for a more informed answer but I appreciate the replies even though they were inaccurate

@jlavaseur exactly.

https://dongknows.com/tp-link-archer-ax11000-review/

from the article: Eight Gigabit LAN ports with a 2.5 Gbps WAN

Similar to its older cousin, the Archer AX11000 comes with eight Gigabit LAN ports. But it now has a 2.5Gbps WAN port — it’s ready to host a multi-gig Internet connection.

The TP-Link Archer AX11000 comes with 8 Gigabit LAN ports and a 2.5Gbps WAN port. Note its well-designed antenna connectors.
Locally, though, chances are the best you can get out of it is 1Gbps, unless you use a server with Link Aggregation. Indeed, the router can combine its LAN2 and LAN3 ports into a single 2 Gbps connection.

@user_4f56a6 okay, then check with tp link support on your issue with your $400+ router. see what they say...

Wan port is different then a lan port, the wan is coming in your router, lan is going out, it might be able to handle it, just not the way you have it configured….
