Xfinity blocks access live agents during outages

4 plus hours. No internet and that customer service phone number- won’t even give a way to talk to an agent. Just gives the message that you’re having an outage and disconnects, Xfinity agent online straight up tells you that you can’t access a live agent because you’re in an outage area! What a new way to scam the customers. What’s the point of customer support if you refuse to talk to them.

Not sure what your point is, but if there is an outage in your area, an agent cannot do anything to fix it.  If you are notified that an outage exists in your location, xfinity is working to restore it.  There is nothing that an agent can do to speed up this process.

I think you’re missing the point of customer support. Blocking all ways of reaching a support person only frustrates the consumer more.

user_8d3dvj Hello, and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to be without internet for over four hours, especially when you're trying to reach someone for help – that definitely defeats the purpose of customer support. I want to assure you that I'm here to do everything I can to help you get this resolved. As a member of the Digital and Social Media team, I can help with all service and billing concerns. If I don't know the answer, I can help find it. To get started, please send our team a Direct Message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account.

To send a "Direct Message":

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon at the top of the page (it looks like a text bubble)

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list that appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

@XfinityChristy Why would you post such an answer?  When there is an outage in a user's area, users calling the support number cannot even get into the queue.  Your system is set up that way.  Telling someone how much you can help them, when in this situation you cannot,.is pointless.  Even if the person does get through, how can anyone at a support center do anything at all?  Please realize that your response, while well intentioned, does nothing to answer the question.
