Xfi gateway and Netgear switch

i have the Xfi gateway and an 8 port switch trying to activate the data plugs wired in each room. I can only get one plug to work at a time on the switch. Do I need to put a router between the gateway and switch to distribute the internet to each room or am I missing something with the gateway I should be doing?

I've seen several posts about switches not working properly with their gateways too.... They all speak ethernet so they should work !

If you are willing to try, try hard resetting the gateway device to factory defaults by pressing and holding in the recessed reset button on the rear (or use the WPS button if it doesn't have a reset button hole) for 30 seconds. This can sometimes clear up some weird behavior issues. I've read a couple of posts here from other customers stating that it worked for them. YMMV. You will lose any customized settings, and they will need to be re-configured from scratch.

In the end, you may need to use a stand-alone router as you stated. Heaven knows it will be better in many other ways than their crippled gateway ! Just be sure to put the gateway into bridge mode if you do go this route. Good luck !

The gateway is a router too. Make sure it is not in bridge mode for it to work.

Confirm that the gateway device is in normal router mode and not in bridge mode.

Bridge mode is disabled.

Have you tried connecting it to a different port on the gateway and / or using a different (known to be good) ethernet cord ?

Yup. Switched them all up and whatever is in slot 2 on the switch works but nothing after that.  Slot 1 is connected to the gateway.  Same Ethernet cables will work if directly plugged into open port on the gateway. Wall plug works if connected to gateway port instead of through switch.  Switch is unmanaged so should be plug and play.

I had read on another site that the gateway may not allow multiple IP addresses through a switch and they recommended another router to sit between the gateway and the switch which seems redundant. I currently have two active ports working but directly in the gateway not the switch.  I would like to use all 8 data drops that I have hardwired around the house.
