xFi Gateway 3rd Generation compatible Ethernet switches
I have a TP Link TL-SG116E Ethernet Switch. Just got the XB7 Gateway,. Extensive Troubleshooting, bridge mod vs non-bridge mode. The switch firmware is up to date and after 2 Installer Trips, and 5 phone calls, no one has a clue why when I activate the switch, the internet gets disrupted and drops off line, then comes back up. The fix was leavng it unpluged.
I'm not attached to the switch. Does anyone have any suggestions and or eperience with switches that work?
Thanks

I tend to stay away from any switches that have any kind of control setting and go for simple unmanaged switches, especially if all you're doing is sharing network resources and a connection to the internet.
I'm actually using a TP-Link TL-SG1024S 24 port switch and it's been solid as a rock, both with my older XB6 and my current XB7 gateways. So were my previous Netgear GS308 and GS208 8 port switches.

Thank you! more questions:
1. What port did you connect (XB7 port # __) to (Ethernet Switch port # ___)
2. Did you need to do anything in XFI? Like edit the LAN/WAN

darkangelic,
Good info on the switches, thanks for that.
I just got an XB-7, but am having trouble finding useful tech info on it. Where did you learn that Port 4 is 2.5Gbs?

1. XB7 port 1 goes to TL-SG1024S , Port 2 to GS308, Port 3 to GS208, and Port 4 (the 2.5 Gbit) is currenly unused while I wait for a 2.5Gbit NIC on order.
2. No, all settings migrated over to the new gateway flawlessly.

I know this isn't about switches. I just upgrated to the XB7. Removed the switch I needed for the XB6, now that I have 4 ports again. This is because you answered the question I had about port 4. I figured the red line neant something. There is nothing that came with the paperwork the tells what it means. They excell in some areas and completely fail in others. thanks for pointing out that it's 2.5Gbs.
