XER10 - Enable Bridge Mode
I was recently upgraded to a new modem/router combo (XER10) from the XB7-T. I am a power user and use a
MINISFORUM MS-01 to do all of my network's routing, The XB7-T allowed me to use bridge mode and let my router handle all of the routing throughout the house. With this new XER10, I don't even have an option for Bridge mode at all. My MS-01 is more than sufficient to handle the network speeds, and has 10Gig NICs as well. If I can register it's MAC and use that I would be much happier and I will gladly send back the equipment, but otherwise I will need a version/software update of your equipment that I can enable Bridge Mode.

I have a public IP address! My one complaint with my Xfinity internet service has been solved. Kudos to the Xfinity team for listening and making this an option. Dropping off my XER-10 at the Comcast Store some time this week! This tech nerd truly appreciates it!

I was able to disconnect my XER-10 and connect my pfsense router. I used the support on reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/comments/1v84tca/epon_can_use_their_own_routers_now/
They needed the mac address of ONT and serial number. No tech visit needed.

I posted on Reddit, but I was able to do it yesterday too. They had to change my account to remove the XER10 (plan and price stayed the same), and then had to push a new boot file to the ONU. Then it worked instantly with my OPNSense box. Everything is right with the world! Now to test how fast they let that 10G port actually go...

Confirmed that this worked as well for me but it did take about an hour to get this done --- and got disconnected in the process.
Had to request the ONU to get the new config file based on the KB listed above.
Had to provide the router WAN MAC.
Had to wait for the tech to reach out to the correct team.
Had to sign a new contract with the XER10 being removed. Same price, speeds.
The one thing that I've noticed though so far is that my upload is not provisionned properly. I'm on a 2G up/down and right now I'm getting 2G down but only around 50M up :( Was getting 2G while connected to the XER10. Router is a unifi cloud fiber connected to a 10G connection to the ONU so not the limiting factor.
I'm gonna give it till tomorrow, cycle the ONU and see if the provisioning gets updated before reaching back out. Process is definitely a bit of a hassle :( but at least its a step forward.
