XER10 - Enable Bridge Mode

I was recently upgraded to a new modem/router combo (XER10) from the XB7-T. I am a power user and use a

MINISFORUM MS-01 to do all of my network's routing, The XB7-T allowed me to use bridge mode and let my router handle all of the routing throughout the house. With this new XER10, I don't even have an option for Bridge mode at all. My MS-01 is more than sufficient to handle the network speeds, and has 10Gig NICs as well. If I can register it's MAC and use that I would be much happier and I will gladly send back the equipment, but otherwise I will need a version/software update of your equipment that I can enable Bridge Mode.

The drama in this thread is astounding. Would I prefer my own device to handle everything and not have the XER10 do anything, yes. Was I irritated when I got the new device and realized it didn't support bridge mode? Yes. Did I end up just setting up my firewall in the DMZ of the XER10 to see how things worked or didn't? Also yes.

Have I had any issues with any of my home automation set up, security cameras, remote access, plex, multiple gaming consoles, etc, etc. that use my networks? That would be a big NO, I've had zero problems.  Would I still prefer to take the XER10 out of the equation? Yes.

That said, the number of folks worried about the lack of bridge mode, and who it would actually cause problems for, is likely such a small percentage of the overall customer base that it's not worth the effort for Xfinity. Especially when most of the people who are crying foul wouldn't actually experience issues with the available options.

It's no different than the SaaS world I live in. If we tried to accommodate every client request, it would be a never-ending battle of low-value changes that rarely, if ever, substantially improve the product.

@user_nekh66 Not sure what your career is but if your work ethic consists of something similar to "Customers are irritating just deal with it" and you're not fired then it must be a company that doesn't do very well ... without the customer what would you have?.., this is a legitimate issue worth complaining over because it just plays into more restrictions on something that other ISPs wouldn't do, therefore that attitude would lose business and this really isn't a petty problem considering it destroys $1,000s worth of other customers already paid cash on their own hardware working properly as they had expected.. myself included and there are other ISPs so if Xfinity took your answer of attitude on this issue I'd be first out the door because it's just petty considering it's something most of not all of 2Gbit plan users wouldn't have thought would not be there.
