XER10 - Enable Bridge Mode

I was recently upgraded to a new modem/router combo (XER10) from the XB7-T. I am a power user and use a

MINISFORUM MS-01 to do all of my network's routing, The XB7-T allowed me to use bridge mode and let my router handle all of the routing throughout the house. With this new XER10, I don't even have an option for Bridge mode at all. My MS-01 is more than sufficient to handle the network speeds, and has 10Gig NICs as well. If I can register it's MAC and use that I would be much happier and I will gladly send back the equipment, but otherwise I will need a version/software update of your equipment that I can enable Bridge Mode.

Just got the XER10 today and I'm in disbelief there is no bridge mode. Is this a hardware limitation or a simple firmware update???

Xfinity has the device in "lock down" and doesn't allow (at this time) the option to "bridge".  Nor do they have a timeline if a later firmware will be released to allow that "option".  Welcome to the dissatisfied club like the rest of us here.... trying to make a "brick piece of equipment" do the most basic function known to the entire technology world (except Xfinity).

I too have a XER10 and am extremely disappointed that there is no bridge mode. This is such a simple feature that every modem needs to support. Is there a different modem that will work with 2gig fiber that also supports bridge mode?

I too was told I could use bridge mode. It was just installed and it's not an option in the XER10. Fix this [Edited: "Language"] or I'll cancel service.

I'm skeptical that this feedback is getting to the right people at Xfinity through traditional channels. However, the product managers can be found on popular social career websites. I hope they are getting everyone's feedback.

There's a reply from someone who I think is a product person that replied to a thread in the official Xfinity sub-Reddit who basically said bridgemode basically isn't possible with the XER10 device because it's just a router, not a modem/router combo like other devices that do have bridge mode.

@user_nekh66 Then I would ask why it had the option for bridge mode before it was added to my account and updated? Before the tech activated the xer10 I was in on the admin page and it was there.

Any chance you took a screen shot to share showing the before and after?

I’m also looking for bridge mode capability on the

XER10. Switched from quantum fiber for 2 gig service but my network is worse because of it. Once the WiFi is turned off on the xer10 the app shows it offline so I can’t make adjustments. Please either enable bridge mode or allow the ONT to connect right to my personal router.

Hello user_90eqpa The XER10 is required to fully utilize the 2 gig service and bridge mode is not an option with that equipment at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience.

@XfinityMatthew thank you for the reply. Is there a timeline on enabling

bridge mode? If there is no plan or timeline to enable bridge mode on the XER10, can you let us know. If it is not going to come to that piece of equipment, is there a plan to release a modern alternative piece of hardware capable of bridge mode? Thank you.

user_90eqpa, you're welcome and we appreciate you. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have any news regarding that being an option. The other option we do have that can assist would be an XB8.

The install tech who eventually  installed the XER10 told me the XB8 is not working with the 2gig fiber in my area.

I was told the same thing - the only gateway offered to get the 2 gig service is the XER10 "Brick" because everything else only has 1 GIG ports on it.  XER10 "Brick" is the only one with a 10 gig WAN port.  Its a vicious circle - almost worth downgrading to 1 gig saving $$ and having a piece of equipment you can bridge and then build a better network not limited by the notorious Piece of Junk the XER-10 is

I agree with everyone in this thread. XER10 bridge mode is needed for "no-compromise" integration to existing high-end networks. Or an alternate modem that can connect from my ONU (that has a 10 Gbps port) to my UniFi UDM Pro SE with 2.5 Gbps WAN port. Fortunately I discovered this limitation with the XER10 (connected to my fiber EPON 10 Gbps ONU). We had to replace the XER10 with XB7-T which was compatible with the EPON implementation. However my connection is capped at 1 Gbps. My community in North Naples Florida is in the process of getting the EPON "upgrade" to 600 Mbps / 600 Mbps. I'm paying for the 1.1 Gbps / 1.1 Gbps upgrade over the standard HOA 600 Mbps / 600 Mbps implementation. Generally, these are large homes and have some established network infrastructure. While this is a good upgrade for most from 300 Mbps / 25 Mbps, it closes the door for future upgrades to 2 Gbps and beyond (which I'd subscribe to instantly). Just add my vote for bridge mode from whatever device Xfinity chooses to put in that can deliver 2 Gbps +. This would be a super competitive offering.
