XBT-8 MoCA installation

My upstairs has a very weak wifi signal. House is wired with coax through out. I don'y understand if I only need 1 MoCA adapter for 1 room, where does it go? How does the router get a signal to the coax running upstairs?

PoE filter installed already.

It goes in that room where it is needed. It gets connected to a coax line / outlet there. An Ethernet client / computer then gets connected to it. Make sure that the MoCA feature in the XB8 is enabled. And make sure that any coax splitters that are in between it and the XB8 are MoCA compliant (5-1675 MHz) ones: https://www.amazon.com/ELECTRONICS-Balanced-Splitter-Compliant-5-1675MHz/dp/B01552LYL6

Excuse my ignorance. I may be over thinking this but how does the internet get from the router to the wall coax to go upstairs to the wall coax outlet in the bedroom?

Thank you for the help!!

The MoCA signals go through the coax cable along with the regular internet signals. Only it is at a different frequency range.

There is only 1 coax and that is the input to the router from the street. There are 4 RJ45 outlets. That's it.

You stated this: "House is wired with coax through out"......

There are wall outlets in the bedrooms upstairs. 1 or 2 down stairs the one input from the street is connected to the router. Router has one coax hook up, np output. 4 lan outputs. No oither. So I do not see how to use MoCA  without a coax going to a wall outlet

If there isn't any coax throughout, why would you even think of using MoCA adapters. If the Ethernet outlets are interconnected and wired correctly, you should be able to backfeed them all by connecting a LAN port on your router to one of them with a cat6 Ethernet cable.

I tried to preface this stating I was  not an IT guy. LOL. I hope you aren't screaming at the computer screen because of me.

The house has coax without.  I just don't understand how the internet can be transmitted to the home's coax.  How does it back feed from the router? How does the internet get to the coax upstairs. I guess i need it to be explained like I'm 5 yrs old

The router is a MoCA adapter itself. I cannot find a diagram to see how it can be connected to the house

Hey there user_74be2s 👋 I know you've been working with our expert EG on this already, but I just wanted to check in to see how things are currently holding up with those weak Wi-Fi signals you mentioned dealing with in the upstairs part of your home. Please let us know if you're needing additional help!

Horrible. Xfinity has been out and found nothing even though it's 20mbps download speed. I just don't understand how MoCA can work with 1 incoming coax to the router.

I'm sorry to hear things are still not up to par in the upper part of your home, but I'm glad that our Xfinity teams have at least taken a look to confirm that everything we can check was okay at that time.

MoCA can work with one incoming coax to a router by utilizing the existing coaxial cabling in the home to create a network. The router acts as the network controller, allowing devices to connect through MoCA. If it's still only the upstairs part of your home being impacted, our Xfinity Pro service that comes with our most powerful Wi-Fi extender may be able to help! Xfinity Pro is an add-on service for our internet customers that provides an elevated Wi-Fi experience. It includes the mentioned Xfinity Wi-Fi Extender, unlimited cellular backup when connections fail, and access to the advanced Xfinity Gateway settings 🙌 Overall aims to enhance Wi-Fi reliability and coverage in your home, and is only an additional $15 per month. Has anyone told you about that yet?
