The XB8 can be connected to a customer owned router by placing the device in bridge mode.
Bridge Mode is a feature on the Xfinity Wireless Gateway that disables its routing capabilities while keeping its modem functions active. This allows users to connect their own router to the gateway. To enable Bridge Mode, users must access the Admin Tool, log in, and select "Enable" next to Bridge Mode. Note that only one device can be connected while in this mode, and features like Xfinity xFi and WiFi Boost Pods will not be available. To revert to using the gateway's router capabilities, users can disable Bridge Mode through the same Admin Tool.
