XB8/server bugs and XB8 manuals

Today, had one XB8 swapped out for another. The following bugs still exist or recur. It is unvalidated whether these are server or XB8, but figured I'd share with you here and see if you're able to replicate.

  • Doesn't software-detect my devices plugged into all Ethernet ports (seems to be better at ports 1 and 3) (the devices work, can connect to Internet, but the Xfinity technician couldn't see them and the Xfinity portal and Xfinity app don't show the devices)
  • DMZ function doesn't work ("We're Having Some Trouble" - weird word-capitalization - and "Please try again. If the problem persists, check back later.")
  • Port Forwarding doesn't work (either can't find my devices - see first bullet - or "We're Having Some Trouble" - weird word-capitalization - and "Please try again. If the problem persists, check back later.")
  • Can't turn off "Xfinity Wifi Hotspot Network" ("There was an error. Try again or check back later.")
  • DHCP lease time set in Router menu ("10.0.0.1", though I changed mine) does not propagate to Server (I changed it from default of 2 days to 1 day in Router mentu, does not reflect in App menu or internet.xfinity.com)

Also, the two XB8s I've had each have a USB-C port on the back of them. It is unclear whether these are power-only or offer additional functionality.

As a result of the USB-C ports, the manual mentioned previously in the forums (https://fccid.io/UIDTG4482/Users-Manual/Users-Manual-4676983) is not necessarily correct (it's also for a TG4492A not TG4482A). The proper TG4482A manual (FCC ID G954981X) is:

https://fccid.io/G954981X/Users-Manual/User-Manual-5542915

There are three on the FCC page (I didn't examine each for differences), that's the latest dated one.

The FCC page is:

More issues:

At the suggestion of one of your technicians, I tried enabling "Advanced Security" and "People" (added my ORBI router to the "person").
(As expected.) Now Port Forwarding and DMZ warn me that it weakens security.
New UI issue: When I do try to turn on the "Advanced Security", the slider didn't respond the first few times I tried it.
It eventually works though.
Still a bug: With "Advanced Security" and a Profile enabled, DMZ still failed.
New bug: With "Advanced Security" and a Profile enabled, the Xfi is no longer seeing the ORBI as a connected device for me to try Port Forwarding (it doesn't appear in the dropdown).
I then moved the device from my "person" to "Household" (which wasn't visible before I added a "person").
Still a bug: Now the device shows for Port Forwarding but it still fails.
New bug: Today, when I try to opt out of the Xfinity Hotspot program, it says:

Let's Try That Again

Looks like that page didn't load.

(I did try a few times.)

You directed me to a chat service where the response time is so slow as to be useless. Would appreciate technical help HERE.

I also have problem with DMZ in the XB8 ... It was working before when I first get the XB8... and few months back ... I believe there is a FW update pushed to XB8 and since then it doesn't work anymore.

Once I enabled the DMZ ... my  router is no longer able to grant DHCP to any client....

I have tried ASUS router & Netgear router both experience the same issue.

Hi, @user_a3190b. Thanks for letting us know you are also having problems with the connection using the XB8 modem. This is not on the list of known issues so we want to further troubleshoot and open a ticket if we need to. When you turn off the DMZ does your modem go back to granting DHCP to clients? Have you tried to fully reset the modem and then set it up again to see if that resolves the problem?
