XB8 modem login password changed by Xfinity?

I have a XB8 modem from Xfinity where I have changed the default password to something I managed to remember.  I have been able to access this modem using my own password for years.  Today Xfinity notified me they had to do some service interruption due to issue with the network.  Naturally I noticed that the modem light changed color.  After service was back on (interruption of 10 minutes?), I tried to login to my modem and was not able to do so.  Anyone has this experience?

(note: yes I have changed my default LAN from 10.0.0.1 to 10.10.10.1 for years and was always able to login.)..  your help is very much appreciated.

Picture below is what I experienced.

Hi there @admin899. Thank you so much for reaching out to us regarding the issue of not being able to log into the modem. Now based on picture that was provided, it looks like you will need to do a factory reset in order to gain access again to the modem.

I have tried doing the factory reset on my gateway, using the steps provided by the xfinity agent, and it has not changed any settings and I still cannot log in to the admin settings of the modem. What am I doing wrong?

@user_af4gql Welcome to our community forum! Thank you for reaching out so we can help you factory reset your modem. What kind issues are you facing? If the factory reset is successful, you will need to customize your WiFi name and password again. What is the make and model of your modem? Please list the steps you completed to factory reset the device.

@admin899

As an FYI, I will add that when doing a reset to factory defaults, you will lose any customized settings, and they will need to be re-configured from scratch.
