XB8 Gateway in Bridge Mode strange WAN IP address

This seems weird.  When I put my XB8 Gateway into bridge mode so I can use my own router the "WAN" IP address I am getting from the now bridge-mode gateway into the new router is 10.0.0.259 which is not a "normal" Public IP address but a normal WAN IP address that would be generated by DHCP which is supposedly disabled in bridge mode.  Why would this be happening?

I tried talking to "support" on the phone but anything beyond "reboot everything" umpteen times is too much for them.  Not sure if there is anyone in ACTUAL TECH  SUPPORT who can be contacted or even better if anyone here has an answer.

The usual IP WAN range I get here 73.24.xxx,xxx range and not the 10.0.0.xxx which is a lan dhcp range.

In bridge mode, boot the gateway first.  Let it connect to the internet fully (watch the lights on it).  Then boot your router after the gateway is connected.

Ideally, you'd power sequence that startup after a power fail so it comes up the same every time.
