XB8 Gateway Ethernet LED Turns on Overnight
Recently got a new-in-box Xfinity XB8 gateway to replace my defective XB7. I have two laptops connected separately to Ethernet Port #1 and Port #2 on the XB8. When I turn the computers off at night, the green LEDs next to both ports turn off. But when I wake up in the morning, before I turn the laptops on, Ethernet Port #2's LED is lit solid green (it starts blinking when the computer is on and data is flowing).
Seems like a curiosity because the XB8 works fine and I am getting my rated speed. But why Port #2? Does it have something to do with Port #2 being the one for a bridge (which is not enabled)? Does Comcast do something overnight, like test the modem? This has happened the last three nights in a row, ever since I first noticed it.

Both laptops are completely shut down and powered off. Moreover, I have tried physically disconnecting the Ethernet cable at the laptop on Port #2 so it is hanging in the breeze. Yet overnight, the green LED on Port #2 comes on and I see it in the morning before I reattach the Ethernet cable. I haven't seen it necessary to swap Ports #1 and #2 because as I said, Port #2 basically has nothing connected to it overnight.
As I am typing this, I logged onto the Gateway and looked at the Connected Devices --> Devices page. In the Online Devices list, I see Port #1 connected to the laptop I'm typing this on. The other laptop, which has not yet been connected, does not show up on the Devices list. Yet the green LED for that laptop on Port #2 is on steadily.
Incidentally, I also have a Linksys wireless access point connected to Port #3 which stays on all of the time. It is a 100 MBps device and the Port #3 LED is blinking orange as it should be. I don't see what this would have to do with the Port #2, however.
