Get a 2.5 gig multiport ethernet switch and connect it to the 2.5 gig port on the XB8. Then both of you connect to the 2.5 gig LAN ports on the switch. And of course, your network adapter has to also be 2.5 gig capable as well. Realize that if you are both doing bandwidth-intensive things at the same time, neither one of you will get quite the full speed.

I have an XB7T gateway and I can't get that 2.5 gbps port to go past 300 mbps. Now I have to wait 3 days for a tech. smh

hopefully there's an issue on this gateway and the newer XB8 ethernet port will work better.

I spent almost $200 on a Netgear multi gig switch and it seems to negotiate fine.

If I connect that switch to the regular 1 gbps port on the xfinity gateway I get the 950~ Mbps speed. Once I move it to 2.5 Gbps ethernet, I. only get 200-300 mbps.
