XB7 - XFINITYWIFI interferring with my Unifi access points - cannot find a way to disable . HELP !

I using the XB7 as a modem & wired router, but not for Wifi. I have Wifi disabled for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands in the router configuration at https://myrouter.io .

Nevertheless, the modem still broadcasts a Wifi network on XFINITYWIFI and XFINITY SSIDs. I know my XB7 is broadcasting it because the connection from my smartphone to XFINITYWIFI cuts off when I power off my XB7.

The problem is that my 5 Unifi NanoHD meshed access points setup on VHT160 are picking this up as interference, and either keep switching channels, or I get greatly reduced bandwidth from my clients.

I have looked at the instructions at https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/disable-xfinity-wifi-home-hotspot .

First, I logged in to https://customer.xfinity.com/#/settings/security/hotspot .

I received the error : "We are having trouble accessing this data. Please try again later."

..

Second, I installed the Xfinity app on my Android phone (S22 Ultra).

I logged in and went to the "Connect" tab at the bottom.

I am unable to proceed with step 4 "See network".

The "See network" option just does not appear in the app.

This is the screen I actually see :

If I click "Xfinity Wifi hotspots", it shows a map of my neighborhood. My home is not shown as being a Wifi hotspot on the map, yet the XB7 is most definitely broadcasting XFINITY and XFINITYWIFI.

How can I stop the XB7 from doing so ? Please help. This is really messing up with my access points.

@madbrain76  So I confirmed my suspicions and yours, so when I disabled my Xb8 hotspots, all it did was disable the broadcasting of the SSID, everything else is the same, I turned it back on, I see the SSID once again, so I played with settings and got them to go way altogether, but I don’t know for how long, need to test some more as time permits…

@Jlavaseur Are you saying you got the hotspots to stop broadcasting?  Did you do anything outside of turning it off in public hotspot settings? I'm having the same issue,

FYI, I setup a separate router box with pfSense . I setup my XB7 in bridge mode.

It is *still* broadcasting the [Edited: "Language"] XFINITY and xfinitywifi SSIDs . Which means it's not actually in bridge mode, since it can still route traffic from clients on those SSIDs.

I did a factory reset of the XB7. Set it up with a web browser (no Xfinity app). It came up without the XFINITY / xfinitywifi networks, miraculously. And they haven't come back, so far.

Unfortunately, the setup for the Gateway required a Wifi SSID and password. I set one up called "DUMMY".  I then disabled it. So far, so good, no WIFI broadcasting.

Since I'm using a separate router, I then switched to bridge mode. And now, Wifi is enabled again, with the DUMMY SSID broadcasting ! Sigh.

And the "At a glance" screen under "home network" shows "Ethernet" enabled (green) and Wifi also enabled (green). Only Moca is red (off).

Going to the Connection/Wifi screen, everything is greyed out, nothing can be disabled.

@madbrain76 After powering off the gateway and back again, the DUMMY  SSID is gone.

This is the summary of what I did to get rid of all Wifi broadcasting :

1) factory reset (from the admin GUI)

2) setup from wired machine (not through app)

3) disable Wifi (both networks)

4) switch to bridge mode (I'm using a separate router). Now Wifi is back on ! Bug.

5) power the gateway off and back on

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing speed issues now, seems I'm getting throttled by Comcast, but not sure why. Separate thread on that.

@madbrain76 So, unfortunately, as of today

6) the Gateway is back to broadcasting XFINITY / xfinitywifi . And this time the admin GUI is showing Wifi as disabled . This is with the XB7 still in bridge mode, sigh.

Can anyone PLEASE help with this ? Disabling Wifi shouldn't take an FCC complaint.
