XB7 X Fi Gateway.

I had a Netgear AC 1600. Modem /router combo. I had to get a router with phone jacks, need a home phone for my daughter. Long story. So I got the gateway, with the plan of 400 GB . It is a weak signal and downloads on my phone slow. I don't know what's wrong with it. It's supposed to be the brand new Wi-Fi 6. Anything anyone can tell me to help me would be great. Thank you,

Hello @user_3dbda0 and thank you! I really appreciate you being a member of the Comcast Family! Have you run a speed test https://comca.st/2UBx3k0 to check the connection?

For a test, what speeds do you get with a computer connected directly to the gateway with an ethernet cable ?

I don't have a home computer anymore. I do everything on my phone. And I was wondering, if my 5 GHz and my 2 GHz should be on the same Wi-Fi mode? They are the same except for the last two letters. Thank you for your help

Our modems are capable of band steering which would allow you to have one name for both the 2.4Ghz band and the 5.0Ghz. It's super easy to set this up using the Xfinity App when you edit your network name. The gateway would place you on the best connection. Separate names(even a slight change) would disable band steering and you would manually control which network you connect to. You can run the speed test on your mobile device and review the results. You'll want to be in the same room as the modem(very close) if you're on the 5.0Ghz network.

FWIW, WiFi is always slower than wired. Just too many variables involved. I only suggested the test for you to be able to get a truer indication of the speeds that you are actually receiving from the Comcast system.

I am very close to my modem, during the day. About 10 ft. Which mode should I change? The 5 or the 2.5? My bandwidth on the 2.5 is 20 mhz and on the 5 it is 80. And should I mess with the Wan and Lan, or leave it on automatic? My DHCP server start range is, 10.00.2 and my end range is 10.00.253. I just have such a hard time understanding why, my Netgear gave me better uploading and downloading since I'm supposed to have the best new gateway, the xb7cm. I'm pretty new to this. But I am a little older and live by myself. And never had to worry about this before. Thank you for all your help.
