XB7 slow speeds. 1.3Gb to 1.5Gb to the modem but 950Mbps on the ethernet cable?
I just swapped my XB7 with a new XB7 with the tech that came out. I pay for 1.2Gbs and testing from xfinity shows I'm getting 1.3Gbs-1.5Gbs on site and from phone support. Testing from the tech and my hard wired pc shows I'm getting 950Mbps output from the modem. Supervisors and Tier 2 support HAVE NO CLUE why the modem throttles our speed. Is it a setting at comcast??? Some people on here are getting 1.4Gbps with the same modem. Why is xfinity throttling some of our modems??? Its 100% not my wiring or devices since we tested before the devices. Thanks.

Are you using the ethernet port with the red stripe on it ? Are you using at least a cat6 ethernet cable ? Does the computer / device that you are testing the speed with have a greater than a gigabit (2.5 gig) ethernet port ?

Do you have a 2.5GBE or 10GBE device on the other end in your testing? 99.9% of home consumer devices can only reach a maximum of 1Gb using 1Gb NICs, which is what it sounds like you have. That's about 900-950Mb/s, max, when factoring in overhead. The 1.2Gb plan isn't of much use for those who don't have 2.5Gb or 10Gb networking gear. The tech's device might not even be capable of pulling >1Gb reliably, since most customers are happy with 50Mb or so and most contractors aren't going to outfit their techs with the more expensive 10Gb stuff - most customers only care as long as they can stream their netflix. Regardless, you won't see any benefit unless you have enterprise grade 2.5 or 10Gb networking gear downstream of the modem.
