XB5 gateway connection to HP printer
Recently, Comcast replaced my Arris TG-1682G modem/router with the Xfinity XB5 box, keeping my existing network SSID and Password. Everything on my network works A-OK except my HP officejet 6500 printer. It is no longer visible on my network. I reinstalled it and while the XB5 box accepts the SSID, it will not accept the Password....just fails with connection failed message a few seconds after entering the password. I have confirmed the password is correct, and even connected another device to the network using the same SSID and password. Is there an issue with the XB5 box and certain printers? If so, is there a workaround? Thanks.

BruceW, I do thank you for the reply. However, if the solution was that simple, I would not have posted the question. Of course the first thing one does is verify the printer is actually connected to the network. Therein lies the problem...the XB5 box will not accept the WPA password that has always been used on this printer in the past. It accepts it for any new devices being added, but just not for this printer. I have asked Comcast to give back my original modem/router model when all worked OK. They replaced it with the XB5 model to address a internet connection issue in my neighborhood, and it has not helped. All it did was prevent me from using my printer. I do not think I should have to purchase a new printer in order to be compatible with the new Comcast box.

Thanks for the reply. yes, it is definitely some form of technology difference between the X5 box and the Arris TG box. However Comcast won't admit it and won't do anything about it. Their solution is get a new printer....which is what I finally did.

Thanks for the reply, but all this link does is show how to reconnect your printer "if" the new modem/router is working properly. Since the X5 box will not accept the password, it is of no help.
